In a nutshell, self-care is anything you do for yourself that makes you feel good and happy. It is not about any other person but you. It is being kind, compassionate, and giving back to you.

Self-care is knowing what you are capable of. It is saying no to a friend because you are running low, it is stepping back to review how you spent your day or what you could have done differently.
